Elio Fox Leads WSOPE Main Event Final Table

The final table has been reached at the World Series of Poker Europe, and eight players now remain in the hunt for the €1,400,000 first prize. Leading the way is American professional Elio Fox, who will enter the final table with just under 4 million in chips.

The final table will feature players from five different nations, including three Englishmen looking to take the title back to the original home of the WSOP Europe. Jake Cody has about 2.7 million in chips, and has already won a WSOP bracelet this year, as he took down the $25,000 Heads-Up World Championship in Las Vegas. Chris Moorman has about 2.2 million, and has already made two WSOP final tables this summer – though he’s still searching for his first major championship. Also representing England is Max Silver, who entered Day 4 as the chip leader and now has a respectable 1.8 million in chips.

The United States also had multiple players make the final table. Along with the chip leader, the USA is also represented by Brian Roberts, a 28-year-old professional player from Austin, Texas who has exactly 2 million in chips. As WSOP.com points out, this Roberts shares a name with the late Brian “Sailor” Roberts, who won the 1975 WSOP Main Event – but the two are not related.

Two more Europeans are also at the final table. Dermot Blain, a 27-year-old from Dublin Ireland, enters the final table with 2.4 million in chips. Meanwhile, Moritz Kranich of Germany is looking to complete his personal poker Triple Crown, as he already has wins on the European Poker Tour and the World Poker Tour. He’ll start play tomorrow with 1.66 million in chips.

Finally, the short stack is Shawn Buchanan, who comes into the final table with just over 1 million in chips. Buchanan, who hails from British Columbia, Canada, has yet to win a WSOP bracelet – but still has an outside shot to win the 2011 WSOP Player of the Year award.

Each player at the final table is guaranteed to win at least €115,000. Several notable players were eliminated on Day 4, including Patrik Antonius (9th), Erik Seidel (21st) and Tony G (24th). Play will pick up again tomorrow at 13:45 CET, and will continue until a winner is crowned.
