EiG Expo Talks And British Gambling Study

One of the topics that have been discussed at the European iGaming Congress and Expo held in Barcelona was the British Gambling Prevalence Study, which over a year's time studied online gamblers and has recently released their findings.

Sporting bet spokesman Andrew Mciver stated they felt this study came out in a positive light for the online gambling industry. He did admit he has only read it in part, and some of that was a statement from this study, that there is a nine out of ten chance that a problem gambler is also playing in the UK national lottery. Putting the UK lottery in the same light as online gambling. He also said he was certain that the UK Government was not pleased with this comment in the study as the lottery is put on by them.

Part of this discussion also included the need to be accepted as a part of the entertainment sector rather than just online gambling and also the need to regulate it as such. Gaining recognition as part of the entertainment industry it would place online gambling in a more positive light. They all also agree that being geographically diversified is in their best interest as well as working out payment processing options for the Asian market.
