A New Bill For California Poker Players
Its been a year since Senator Dean Florez wanted to pass a bill that eliminate the amount of money that could be wagered in card rooms in California; he now wants legislation to make adding tables in small card rooms legal.
He feels this expansion is needed as players are now playing a game that is often seen in tournaments that are televised, like Texas Hold'em, many of these poker players can not get a seat at a card room who want to play this game and Senator Florez feels that players, after waiting extended amounts of time, leave unsatisfied to return home still wanting to play cards and visit U.S. Online casinos.
He also placed in this bill that these players using Internet casinos are doing so illegally. This bill, Senate Bill 152 has not gotten the attention that his last bill did with the anti-gambling groups.
Attorney Fred Jones, who is the attorney for the California Coalition Against Gambling Expansion, is speaking out against this bill stating that it will be placing more temptation for residents with gambling problems; the position Attorney Jones holds in the (CCAGE), represents mainly churches.
This bill is headed to the Assembly since Senate Bill 152, this bill will allow small card rooms to add up to five tables with out having to wait for the voters approval.
