ATG Sues Unibet For $36 Million

Swedish government owned horse betting company, ATG is suing the online bookmaker Unibet for allegedly stealing information from it's horse racing database. ATG claims that Unibet has been illegally using this information from as early as 2000.

According to ATG, the company contacted Unibet in 2004 regarding the issue, but the competitors failed to reach a compromised agreement. Therefore ATG has filed a lawsuit against Unibet in the sum of $36 million, reportedly 10% of Unibet's profits since 2000, when they first began using ATG's information.

ATG claims that Unibet would never have achieved success in the industry without the use of their information. The entire horse racing database is estimated by ATG to have cost $30 million.

A spokesperson for ATG said the company believes they have a very good chance of winning the case when you compare similar case rulings delivered in both Sweden and the European Union.
