Golden Palace Casino Fined for Illegal Gambling

More than a year ago the offices of the online casino well known for the purchase of several strange eBay products, including Paris Hiltons tooth floss, Golden Palace was raided by the Montreal police.

According to the French language news service of CBC, Golden Palace Company has been ordered to pay a $2 million fine. Golden Palace casino is the first ever online casino to be charged originally with illegal gambling. The fine will be the first of its kind (for illegal online gambling) in Quebec.

Cyber World Groups server is located on a Kahnawake Mohawk Indian reserve, this case might just set a precedent as to whether or not the Kahnawake Gaming Commission has the legal authority to hand out gambling licenses.

Representatives from Kahnawake argue that they are protected by their rights as an Indian tribe, especially since their servers are located on reserve land, stating that the Canadian Constitution protects them.
