Harvard Law Group Rallys Agains Gov.'s Plan

A Harvard Law professor and his poker playing students are going to stage a protest outside of the State House to rally against Governor Deval Patrick's casino plan. 

There are more opponents of his plans that range from church leaders to social activists but they are going to be warning people about the perils of expanded gambling.

But that is not why the group from Harvard is protesting they are arguing that there is not nearly enough gambling.  The newly formed Global Strategic Thinking Society is targeting a provision in the governors bill that says that residents of Massachusetts that get caught gambling online could face up to two years in jail and fines up to $25,000 dollars.

Harvard Law School professor Charles Nesson is an avid player who formed the Harvard Poker Society and is planning to testify at the State House hearing on Patrick's casino bill. 

The Harvard group says that as many as 400,000 Massachusetts residents play online poker.  Charles Nesson said, “I don’t think filling our expensive jail cells with poker players is what Massachusetts voters had in mind when they elected Deval Patrick".
