Irish financial and sports spread-betting firm to float on AIM

Worldspreads, an Irish financial and sports spread-betting firm hopes to raise in the area of Euro 8 million in improvement capital next week when it premiers on the London Alternative Investment Market (AIM) with a market capitalization target of Euro 37 million.

Founded in Dublin in 2000 by Conor Foley and Brian O'Neill, WorldSpreads offers prices by telephone and online on a wide range of sports and financial markets, including individual shares, stock indices, currencies, commodities and interest rates and is said to have a customer foundation of approximately 2,000 members. It is registered with the Financial Services Authority (FSA) in Britain, and has been since the inception of the company.

Conor Foley, currently the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), has experience in the financial services industry for more than 11 years prior to the foundation of Worldspreads, and is joined by Brian O'Neill, who had 12 years experience in investments and treasury with a number of financial institutions in Dublin prior to establishment of WorldSpreads. O'Neill is currently the chief operations officer.
