In the past year there has been much controversy in the United States, there has been Bills passed that have all but devastated some online gambling companies, specifically
online poker and put them in the hot seat being investigated and losing gamers from the United States. There are now a few Senators that are more open to the idea of online gambling, or at least open to discussion according to Jeffery Sandman a spokesman for SSIGI. One of the reasons that new Bills are being brought to the table in part to counteract the damage that the (UIGEA) Bill did not only to online gambling companies but also our rights as American citizens.
This appears to be positive and may be a start to the regulation of safe U.S. online casino sites. So far Barney Frank is fighting to protect American consumers in regulating online casinos and set in place protection to insure that minors can not access these sites, to keep fraud and money laundering out of these sites and compulsive gambling. Senator Jim McDermott has also brought to the table his ideas, he feels that along with Senator Franks bill, taxing regulated online gaming operators would add billions of dollars to the U.S. Treasury.
