New Supporters for IGREA

          Over the past few months, Representative Barney Frank has been steadily receiving support for his Internet Gambling Regulation and Enforcement Act. Mr. Frank now has three Representatives that are helping support his bill. They are Robert Andrews a Democrat from New Jersey, Adam Smith a Democrat from Washington and John Larson a Democrat from Connecticut. It was this past Tuesday the trio signed on showing their support.
          The Internet Gambling Regulation and Enforcement Act would overturn the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act (UIGEA). The UIGEA made it illegal for financial institutions to make transactions for online gambling sites.
          Larson and Smith voted for the UIGEA in 2006 but now want to allow online gambling in the US. Andrews voted against the UIGEA and has been a congressman for 10 terms. He is also the chairman of the Subcommittee on Health, Employment, Labor and Pensions.
          Larson is a member of the House Ways and Means Committee and is in his 5th term in office. He is also on the subcommittee of the Trade and Select Revenue Measures. Smith has been in Congress since 1996 and is on the House Foreign Affairs Committee.
