Republican Texas Congressman and 2008 United States Presidential hopeful, Ron Paul, came to the defense of online gaming and the rights of players betting over the web at a hearing in Washington this week. Paul being the only candidate that voted against the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act last year.

Proving to be a valuable candidate, Paul has managed raising over $4 million in only one day via an Internet fundraising campaign. With this total coming from mainly small contributions. To think that only a few short months ago, Paul was basically not even heard of.

At a number of online bookmaking sites that offer betting odds on the 2008 Presidential race, Ron Paul shows to be closing in on Romney. He is showing to place 3rd, following Rudy Giulliani and Mitt Romney.

Gambling911 is encouraging online gaming sites and enthusiasts to submit video questions of their own in the upcoming Republican CNN/YouTube Debate that is related to the UIGEA passage, showing each politicians position on this matter.

"Wouldn't it be great if they aired a question about the UIGEA or Online Poker during the debate," commented Poker enthusiast, Scott Shuller. "Really put them (the Republicans) on the spot."
