SC Bill to Legalize Poker in Homes Failed
The bill that would have made playing poker at resident's homes in South Carolina has failed. A measure that could have legalized recreational poker games in homes was sent back to a House panel on Wednesday without debate.
This move has ended the bill's chanced of passing this year as the current law bans any game that is played with either cards or dice. Representative Wallace Scarborough has said that a friendly game of cards should be legal and I agree.
The Charleston Republican says that he introduced the bill after hearing about a 2006 police raid on a poke game in a Mount Pleasant home and one of the people arrested was a 79 year old woman.
If your not playing for large amounts of cash and you want to invite your friends over to eat, drink, play poker or whatever you should be able to. We started a poker match at a family reunion and now do it every year with whatever change is hidden in the bottom of our pockets or purses, so what's the big deal?
