Skill Game Protection Act, New Cosponsors
To start with, Wexler had only one cosponsor - Bennie Thompson (D-Miss.). Since then, 11 additional congressmen have further supported the bill. They are:
Gary Ackerman (D-N.Y.)
Shelley Berkley (D-Nev.)
Michael Capuano (D-Mass.)
Steve Cohen (D-Tenn.)
Alcee Hastings (D-Fla.)
John Larson (D-Conn.)
James Moran (D-Va.)
Tim Ryan (D-Ohio)
Linda Sanchez (D-Calif.)
Edolphus Towns (D-N.Y.)
Anthony Weiner (D-N.Y.)
Between Rep. Robert Wexler’s attempt and the efforts of Rep. Barney Frank, the UIGEA is seeing some substantial opposition. With the now 13 cosponsors of HR 2610, and 34 cosponsors for HR 2046, the impact will ultimately be felt through out the house. Currently the Senate has no known bills mounting against the Unlawful Internet Gambling Act, however watching these bills as they pass onto the Senate, will be well worth the time. Support is mounting in congress for the legalization of Poker and other forms of Online Gambling. Only time will tell us where it will end.
