In 2006 with the UIGEA or Unlawful Internet Gambling Act came into effect banks, credit card and debit card companies were to stop any transfers or accept payments from online gambling sites. The Unlawful Internet Gambling Act included using American banking facilities and credit card companies in their efforts to squash Internet gambling in the United States, however this is not quite the case according to one watch group.

After a ten month investigation from this watch group named Americas Watchdog, they have found that over a period of time by using several online gambling sites, though they were not U.S. run sites, these online gambling sites are accepting U.S. player payments.

While these sites are not in the U.S., they are subject to this law when dealing with payment from U.S. funding sources. It is said that the sties involved were from Antigua, South Africa and the U.K.

This group, Americas Watchdog has released their findings in a report after their extended online gaming using American funds from banks and credit cards. It is yet to be seen what actions may be taken by officials in these allegations of online gambling sites who are still accepting U.S. funding sources.
