UK Gambling Act; 'White List' Jurisdictions

According to the British Gambling Act, which will cease to allow some forms of public advertising of gambling operators effective September 1, operators in approved jurisdiction will not be effected by the ban. For this reason, a large number of gambling sites are considering re-registration in the jurisdiction provided on the 'white list'.

For instance, registration in Malta and Gibraltar currently deems gambling operators capable of advertising in the UK, so long as they are members of the European Economic Area. Kahnawake and Antigua based operations are still awaiting affirmation of their jurisdictions acceptability.

Intercasino revealed plans to license through Malta before the September 1st deadline. Betfred, who maintains online casino and poker gambling sites, also eluded to intentions of leaving their current Curacao jurisdiction for a 'white list' region.

Alderney was one of the first jurisdiction added to the 'white list'. It is likely many gambling operators will look to this jurisdiction in the near future for potential re-registration.

"The listing is also the best endorsement possible of Alderney's credentials as a highly reputable jurisdiction."
