West Virginia to Allow New Table Games
Not only will the table games provide a new gaming venue for the casino, they will provide about 700 new jobs to the community, Ted Arneault says in regards to these new jobs: "Now we look forward to it becoming a reality."
Three weeks previously Ohio county voters voted in favor of an expansion of Wheeling Island Racetrack and Gaming Center, in fact, the measure passed by nearly a 2-1 margin. The Hancock county vote followed right along these lines, being itself approved b y a 2-1 majority.
The new Table Games at Mountaineer Race Track and Gaming Resort will allow West Virginia to compete on an even plain with Pennsylvania's new slot machine's.
The fee alone to license table games in West Virginina is $1.5 million dollars, just for the first year, and then increases to $2.5 million dollars each year after. In addition to revenue from licensing the state will also recieve a tax in the amount of 35% of the proceeds from the new table games.
The tax is applied after winners playing the table games have been paid. The additional gambling revenue is earmarked for several pre-defined state and local community programs.
