William Hill Online Poker Room Relocated

After the new amendment to the Gambling Act 2005 in the UK was announced last week, a few online gambling businesses have transferred their operations to Europe.

AS Internet-Poker reported earlier this month, You can now add William Hill Online Casino and Internet Poker Room to that list. Last week we reported that this was a consideration, this week, it's fact. The online gambling giant ais transferring its operation from the Dutch Antilles in the Caribbean to Gibraltar and Malta, in order to conduct "business as usual".

The new amendment will take effect September 1 and restricts advertising in the UK by online gambling companies to those that are within the EEA (European Economic Area) or get placed on a Government White List.

William Hill announced that its players will have to resign up to their site and accept the new terms and conditions before being able to place a bet. The new T&C's will coincide with their move and "govern all remote activities with William Hill".

The online gambling operations of Ladbrokes, 888 and Party Poker are already located in the EEA territory of Gibraltar.

The Dutch Antilles and Tasmania have already been rejected by the Department for Culture, Media and Sport to be included in the white list. Still awaiting a decision on their application is the Quebec Indian reserve, Kahnawake and Antigua.
