Chris “moorman1” Moorman won his 11th “Triple Crown” of online poker this week, winning three large online tournaments over the course of seven days. The 11 triple crowns is the most on record for any player.
The Triple Crown is a creation of poker website PocketFives.com. The rules for winning a Triple Crown award are simple. A player must win three multi-table tournaments on three different major poker sites over the course of any seven day period. Each tournament must have at least 100 players and offer a prize pool of at least $10,000, with satellite tournaments no counting towards the award.
Moorman won his 11th such award this week by taking down tournaments on Ultimate Bet, PokerStars and Full Tilt Poker. Moorman won over $47,000 in total for winning the three events.
“It’s been a long time since I won my last one,” Moorman said, “so it was a bit of a shock that I actually managed to close it out on the last possible day this time.”
Moorman’s 11th Triple Crown puts him back in the lifetime lead for the award. Close behind is Peter “Belabacsi” Traply, a Hungarian player who holds 10 such awards. No other player has accomplished the feat more than five times.
Moorman is one of the most successful young online poker players in the world. The 25-year-old British pro is a member of the “Brunson 10,” and has won over $5 million in online tournaments in his career.
Moorman’s week was even better than the Triple Crown suggests. While he could only count one tournament per site towards his Triple Crown award, Moorman actually won a second tournament at Full Tilt Poker this week, for a total of four tournament victories in just seven days.
