Doyle Brunson's Failed Attempt at Bracelet 11

Coming into this year's WSOP, Brunson was locked into a three-way tie with
Johnny Chan and Phil Hellmuth at ten bracelets each. Just a couple of weeks
later, Phil Hellmuth reached the next level by winning his 11th WSOP gold bracelet, poker legend Doyle Brunson had a chance to do the same.

Doyle "Texas Dolly" Brunson, poker's living legend, came up short of his eleventh bracelet today at the 2007 World Series of Poker. Although his amazing effort brought him to the final table Doyle Brunson fell short at the $10,000 Pot Limit Omaha event. He played effectively all day, challenging everyone who pushed against him. He entered the final table in the top five chip holders. Unfortunately he failed to improve upon that chip status.

The ‘Black Lotus' of poker, Patrik Antonius faced Brunson, and pushed him out of the game. Brunson ultimately took 6th place finishing with $123, 697. Antonius, with Mizrachi, and Mourtisen moved into the final three for this game. Almost as justification for seeing Brunson busted out, we know many are now rooting for Antonius; like destiny took over and it just wasn't meant to happen, this time.

Regardless how he finished the day, this is the second cash prize for Brunson in
the 2007 WSOP. He placed 22nd in the $5,000 H.O.R.S.E. event early in the season. This pushes him over the 5 million dollar mark for career wins, a feat within itself.

The next two possible opportunities for Brunson to catch Phil Hellmuth at 11
WSOP bracelets are coming up quickly. The $5000 No Limit 2-7 Draw Low ball with re-buys and the $10,000 WSOP Main Event. Both competitions, albeit the last opportunities, will be unparalleled challenges in there own right. If anyone can match Hellmuth, Brunson can. Watch closely because this legend isn't finished yet.
