The Twitter accounts of many major poker players were abuzz this weekend as poker pros Erick Lindgren (34) and Erica Schoenberg (33) were married in Santa Barbara, California on Saturday.
Many names that are famous throughout the poker community were on hand, including Daniel Negreanu and Phil Hellmuth. The couple had dated for more than a year before the wedding.
Lindgren is probably the better known of the couple to most poker fans. Lindgren, who won his first World Series of Poker bracelet in 2008, has won over $8 million in live tournaments. He has also won two World Poker Tour titles.
Schoenberg, on the other hand, was a professional volleyball player and model before turning to playing both poker and blackjack professionally. She has won nearly $800,000 in live poker tournaments, and has seven WSOP cashes to her credit.
Both husband and wife are now headed to Las Vegas, where both will be taking on a full scheduled at the World Series of Poker; there’s no word on whether this will count as the couple’s honeymoon, or if a separate vacation will be planned later. The World Series of Poker begins on May 31, with the Main Event starting on July 7th.
While the Lindgrens may be the latest pair of poker pros to tie the knot, they’re hardly the first. Other notable poker-playing couples include Chad Brown and Vanessa Rousso, as well as Chip and Karina Jett.
