Four Arrested in Connection with Duhamel Robbery

Four people have been arrested in connection with the home invasion and robbery of 2010 World Series of Poker Main Event champion Jonathan Duhamel, including one of Duhamel’s former girlfriends.

The robbery, which took place on December 21, resulted in Duhamel being beaten and having significant sums of cash and personal items stolen. The items included his WSOP bracelet, as well as a watch that was given to him by PokerStars to commemorate his victory.

While police have recovered the watch, the bracelet is still missing, and there has been no comment on whether any of Duhamel’s cash has been recovered. Duhamel suffered only minor injuries in the robbery, but has said that he feared for his life during the course of the home invasion.

According to Longueuil police, there have been four arrests. On Saturday evening, a 20-year-old woman was arrested and charged with five counts, including conspiracy. Two men (ages 22 and 26) were then arrested in connection with the case on Monday. Finally, a 20-year-old man was arrested Thursday, though charges have not yet been filed against him.

Duhamel has offered rewards of up to $10,000 for information leading to the arrest of the responsible parties, and the return of his property.

According to The Canadian Press, Duhamel’s agent has confirmed that the woman who was arrested had dated the WSOP champion for a short time in the past. Other than her, however, Duhamel was not familiar with any of the men involved in the robbery.

In 2010, Duhamel won $8.9 million by winning the WSOP Main Event. Duhamel, a French-Canadian professional poker player from Quebec, was the first Canadian ever to win the championship. In 2011, Duhamel has over $558,000 in live tournament earnings, including a win in the €10,000 High Roller Event at the European Poker Tour’s Deauville stop.
