Full Tilt Poker Announces Challenge Durrrr Promotion

Not to be outdone by PokerStars’ SuperStar Showdown Series, Full Tilt Poker has unveiled their own challenge that will give poker players a chance to go heads up against one of the most notorious names in online poker. The new “Challenge durrrr” promotion – a play on the infamous durrrr Challenge – will allow one lucky player the chance to take on Tom “durrrr” Dwan for the right to win up to $1.5 million.
The challenge began Saturday, and requires players to work their way through several different types of poker in order to have a chance to face off against Dwan. First, players must reach a high position on the “Challenge durrrr” leaderboards by playing in ring games on the site. Those who do will then get the chance to play in three simultaneous freeroll tournaments, with the top nine finishers overall moving on to the final hurdle. At this point, the top nine players will take part in a matrix sit-and-go – one in which four tournaments are played simultaneously, and players receive points based on their finishes in each tournament – with the top finisher advancing to play with durrrr.
As with the preliminary challenges, the final event will require playing several games at once. The winner will play Dwan in four simultaneous sit-and-go tournaments. If the challenger can win at least one of the four tournaments, they will leave with prize money. A single victory will earn the player $10,000. Two wins is worth $25,000, while winning the match 3 games to 1 will earn the challenger $100,000. If the challenger can pull off a clean sweep and win all four heads-up matches, they will take home $1.5 – a figure that (probably not coincidentally) is the same amount offered by Dwan in the durrrr challenge.
Dwan has become one of the most successful online poker players of all time, and is well known for his heads-up and shorthanded play. He has been involved in many of the largest confirmed pots in both online and televised play. His durrrr challenge – which consists of a 50,000 hand match – is currently ongoing with two different opponents (Patrik Antonius and Daniel Cates).
