Isaac Haxton Defeats Isildur1 in Superstar Showdown
The Superstar Showdowns on PokerStars started badly for Isildur1, as the enigmatic high-stakes online pro dropped his challenge against Isaac Haxton. In the end, Haxton was up approximately $41,700, making him the clear winner of the showdown.
The challenge started off well for Isildur1, who jumped out to an early lead. At the halfway point of the match, he held a significant advantage, leading Haxton by about $25,000.
But things turned bad for Isildur with about 700 hands remaining. After 1,850 hands, Isildur1’s lead was down to $1,299, and he scarcely held a lead after that point. With his losses mounting, many thought Isilidur1 had gone on tilt in the last 100 hands or so; the Swedish pro lost several big pots at the tail end of the match to bring the final score far in Haxton’s favor.
On the bright side for him, Isildur1 will face no further losses as a result of the match. The match rules stipulated that the players would only keep the money that was won at the table, with no additional side action.
The match was played on four tables, with blinds of $50/$100. Although up to 50% of all hands were allowed to be contested in pot limit Omaha, the players instead chose to play exclusively no limit hold’em for this match. A total of 2,500 hands were played in total, 625 at each of the four tables.
While the loss is likely to sting, Isildur1 will be back for more challenges soon, though his future opponents are yet to be named. The loss of the money shouldn’t phase him, as he is known to have lost millions of dollars in single sessions playing against some of the best players in the world at nosebleed stakes. In addition, at least one player will qualify through tournament play to face off against Isildur1 at the much more manageable stakes of $5/$10.
Isildur1’s true identity is unknown. Most speculation has centered around young Swedish player Viktor Blom; however, no confirmation of who is behind the account has ever been revealed.
