Joe Hachem set to star in new Poker Show
Joe Hachem, poker pro and winner of the 2005 WSOP Main Event, is getting ready to star in a new reality television show. The new show is called The Poker Stars and it will give amateur poker players the chance to win a yearlong contract to play poker as a pro.
The show is set to begin on One this Saturday and the eventual winner of the show will be able to travel with Team PokerStars Pro Australia for one year as well as winning an $87,500 cash prize. Hachem stated that he became involved with the new PokerStars show after research was conducted by the poker room.
“The older generation is really starting to embrace poker, turning to it as a mental exercise to keep their minds active post retirement,” stated Hachem. “Women are coming to the game in hordes, almost matching their male counterparts for participation, particularly in online spaces. It’s encouraging to see the sport’s ranks opening up and the field of competitors becoming increasingly diverse.”
Hachem also stated that he handpicked the majority of the contestants for the show and they will be representing all age groups. The show will also air on the PokerTube website for those who do not live in Australia’s enjoyment.
