Justin Bonomo Confirms Move to Malta

We’ve reported several times about the possibility – and reality – of American poker pros leaving the United States so that they could continue playing online poker in another country. The latest professional to make the leap and move out of the country is Justin Bonomo, who has confirmed that he will be moving to Malta in order to resume playing online poker.

Bonomo, a 25-year-old who previously lived in Las Vegas, is best known online as ZeeJustin. Over his live career, he has cashed 13 times in the World Series of Poker, as well as seven times on the World Poker Tour. He also cashed in the first Epic Poker League Main Event, finishing in 18^th. In his live tournament career, Bonomo has won nearly $2.9 million.

However, Bonomo’s career has not been without controversy. In the past, he has been found to be “multi-accounting” in online tournaments, playing multiple entries in the same tournament to increase his chances of winning. While Bonomo paid the entry fees associated with each account, the practice is still against the rules of most poker rooms; the largest concern, of course, is that two or more of the multi-accounting player’s accounts could end up at the same table, thus allowing the player to “collude” with themselves.

Bonomo announced the move on his Facebook account, saying that “now is as good a time as any to announce that I’m moving to Malta.” He went on to inform people that he would likely soon be selling his major possessions in the United States, including his apartment, car, and furniture.

Malta is a small nation in the Mediterranean Sea, consisting of several islands that make up an archipelago. The national language in Malta is Maltese, but English is also widely spoken and is considered to be an official language.
