Absolute Poker: Bad Beat Jackpot Pays Over $104,000

In most cases, a bad beat is the last thing a poker player wants to experience, but in the case of one (un)lucky player, the bad beat resounded to the tune of $104,050.68. Absolute Poker member CHAAWUU became the 4th player to win the rapidly progressive bad beat jackpot.

In a hand of $2 No Limit Hold'Em, CHAAWUU held four 10's - surely a winning hand, right? Not this time. CHAAWUU's quad 10's fell to a straight flush. While most players would consider this terribly unlucky, Absolute Poker implements the Progressive Bad Beat Jackpot, where any player who
loses while holding a hand equal to or better than four 8's will automatically win the bad beat jackpot.

All tables at Absolute Poker who offer a Bad Beat Jackpot are marked with the title in brackets after the table name. The jackpot builds at a rate of $0.50 per qualifying hand, played at any Bad Beat table. Since the 3rd Bad Beat Jackpot was hit on June 26, players have been flocking to these tables on hope of claiming the 4th jackpot. As a result, the jackpot rose at an overwhelming rate of $2,000 per hour.

The actual bad beat jackpot amount had risen to $297,287.63. All players at the winning bad beat table receive a portion of the jackpot, while the winner (or loser in this case) takes home the largest amount. A smaller portion is dropped back into the bad beat jackpot for the next winner.
