Charitable Organization Formed by Poker Players
Several poker pros that are well known in the poker industry have joined forces to create a new charitable organization. The new non-profit is called PokerGives.org and was formed by Linda Johnson, Mike Sexton, Lisa Tenner and Jan Fisher.
Mike Sexton explained that PokerGives will act as a ‘vehicle’ to collect and distribute donations from those who give. Several charities have already been selected by the group to receive funds. Thos included are: Sunflower Children, Special Olympics, Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund, American Cancer Society and the Paralyzed Veterans of America.
Jan Fisher commented: “We believe our combined efforts will set new standards for charitable giving. Many poker players want to give to charity and don't know the best way to do so. PokerGives.org will make it easy for them. All they have to do is send a check to Poker Gives in care of the Nevada Community Foundation. The donations will be gathered and distributed to worthwhile charities."
Thanks to Lupe Soto the founder of Ladies International Poker Series PokerGives is now the official charity for the WiPHOF Induction Celebration which takes place in June. A portion of ticket prices will go to PokerGives.org. When Lupe found out about the charity she wanted to get involved.
