In an addition sure to appeal to lovers of mixed games, Full Tilt Poker has added several different draw poker formats to their selection of poker games on both their play money and real money sites.
The latest software update for Full Tilt Poker features several games which are being offered for the first time. The new games include the following:
- 2-7 Triple Draw, in fixed-limit and no-limit varieties
- Five Crad Draw, in fixed-limit, pot-limit, and no-limit varieties;
- A-5 Triple Draw, in fixed-limit format
- Badugi, in fixed-limit format
The new additions give Full Tilt Poker a full suite of draw poker options, which also allows for a wider variety of games in mixed formats. Full Tilt is taking advantage of this, adding three new games – 2-7 Triple Draw, 2-7 Single Draw, and Badugi – to a new ten-game format that should prove to be among the most varied poker experiences offered anywhere.
The new formats will also be getting a run in tournament play. In fact, the new ten-game format will be run as an event in the upcoming Full Tilt Online Poker Series XVIII, as a $200 buy-in event with a $150,000 guaranteed prize pool.
While Texas Hold’em is still the most popular poker game in the world, many less common games have become increasingly popular in the last few years, as strong players have attempted to find new niches in which to gain an edge over the competition. In addition, mixed-game tournaments are often seen as a truer test of player skill, testing a player’s ability to handle multiple formats against stiff competition. For instance, the Poker Players Championship at the World Series of Poker is played with an eight-game format, and is considered by many to be the toughest field in the entire series. Michael “The Grinder” Mizrachi was the winner of the 2010 WSOP Poker Players Championship.
