Isildur1 Defeats Tony G in Second SuperStar Showdown
Isildur1 has evened up his record in the SuperStar Showdown, posting a $44,280 win over Antanas “Tony G” Guoga to move to 1-1 in the series. The match was played Sunday evening on PokerStars.
Isildur1 and Tony G played at stakes of $50/$100, but unlike in the first series between the anonymous high-stakes pro and Isaac Haxton, this week’s matchup featured two tables of pot limit Omaha in addition to two tables of no limit Hold’em. The players played a total of 2,500 hands, and no additional money was on the line other than what was won and lost at the tables.
After the match, Tony G posted on the twoplustwo.com forums in the hopes of obtaining a rematch against his elusive opponent.
“lets replay this thing on my home turf at partypoker asap,” Tony G wrote. “I will add $50,000 to the pool as a contest of this magnitude deserves some money added and we will hide isildurs1 identity that is not up for discussion.”
Tony G is a Lithuanian-born Australian poker player who is best known for his outlandish table talk and verbal attacks against other players. He has made two World Poker Tour final tables, and has won over $4.3 million in tournament play over his career.
Isildur1 is an anonymous online high stakes poker player who has been involved in many of the largest pots in the history of online poker. While his identity is unknown, he is known to be Swedish, and PokerStars has hinted that the face behind the alias may be revealed in the near future. Most speculation has centered around young Swedish pro Viktor Blom, though plenty of other possible names have been suggested as well.
