Playboy Online Casino to Shut Down by the End of January

By the end of this month the Playboy online casino will no longer be providing poker services to their members. The website has admitted in an email to Poker News Daily that they will be shutting down the site as of January 29th.

In the email Playboy customer service stated: "In response to your e-mail, I can confirm that Playboy Gaming will no longer have a poker site and will not be moving to another network.”

Playboy was operating under the software company CryptoLogic since they opened in 2007. It is believed that the website did not produce the numbers that Playboy had anticipated and it is most definite that the current state of the economy had something to do with the shut down.

It is sad to see the Playboy poker site go. It seems as though every week there is another story of a poker room or casino shutting down due to the economy. It really is a shame as the United States could be regulating the online gambling industry very soon, once the new administration takes office. If this happens many of the closed online poker rooms would have missed a great opportunity.
