SharkScope to be Integrated Into Lock Poker Software

Some online poker rooms have taken measures to prevent players from using tools that provide statistics about the opponents you meet at the table, while others have reluctantly accepted that such tools are a part of the online game. But Lock Poker has decided to take a different tact – one that not only allows such tools to be used, but implements them as a part of their software client.

Lock Poker announced this week that they will integrate statistics from SharkScope.com into their poker client, allowing all players on the site access to information on their own play, as well as the results and tendencies of their opponents. According to Lock Poker CEO Jennifer Larson, this move was designed to improve the overall experience for players on the site.

“One of our mandates as a company is to provide a superior online poker experience,” Larson said. “We are determined to take this industry by storm and innovate in every possible way we can.”

The information available from Shark Scope will be available in a “Player Dashboard” that can be accessed during play. This will allow players to search for data in real time while playing, mitigating much of the advantage obtained by utilizing paid services to gain information on opponents.

This move comes as most poker rooms have moved in the opposite direction. Many major rooms do not allow players to utilize databases of hands that were not personally collected, and others do not permit players to access SharkScope.com or similar sites during the course of play. Party Poker was one of a number of sites to add a number of anonymous tables to their rooms that allow players to play without revealing their identities, thus evading poker tracking software.

Though the way it is being integrated into Lock Poker is a first, SharkScope has long been an important part of the online poker world. The site contains the world’s largest database of online poker tournament results, with nearly 600 million tournaments covered. Statistics from these tournaments are used to create profiles on nearly any player who has ever played online. Users are allowed five free searches at SharkScope.com each day; additional searching rights and features can be obtained for a fee.
