Some Online Poker Rooms Still Accept Americans

With PokerStars, Full Tilt Poker and Absolute Poker no longer available to USA poker players, it may seem that online poker is over for Americans. But in reality, there are many poker sites still open to USA players who are willing to seek out smaller, lesser known alternatives that are now opening their doors to the millions of displaced players in the United States.

Of course, the sites that were shut down by the US Department of Justice are unlikely to allow US players to participate in real money games again anytime soon (though the recent news that players will be able to retrieve money from their accounts is reassuring). However, many other poker rooms are still taking American players, and the growing traffic at these smaller sites has created something of a snowball effect. As more players join the sites, more and larger games are running, enticing yet more players to join in on the fun!

The leader in the race to attract American players is likely to be Bodog Poker. For much of the last decade, Bodog was the name to beat when it came to online gambling in the United States. Bodog offers players a world class sportsbook, a huge casino, and a great poker room, all connected to the same account. Given their extensive name recognition and sterling reputation, Bodog will likely grab the lion’s share of the current American poker market.

A few small networks of sites are also likely to do well in the fallout from Black Friday. For instance, the Merge Gaming Network is positioned very well to capture many American online poker players, since they have been accepting Americans for a long time and feature several relatively high-profile rooms. Carbon Poker may be the best known of these rooms, but other great rooms like Lock Poker, SportsInteraction and RPM Poker are also in excellent position to increase their share of the USA market.

Finally, the Cake Network has always been a player in the USA online poker world, but they should see a lot more players turning their attention to it now that the big three sites are down. Perhaps no Cake Network room is better suited for this than Intertops Poker, which has been around for a decade and has the expertise to deliver American players an online poker experience that rivals anything PokerStars or Full Tilt Poker has to offer.
