UB Player Data Leaked

Subject: Poker is reporting that the personal data of a large number of players at the UB.com poker site – perhaps every player that has even played on the site – has been leaked. According to the report, approximately 3.5 million accounts have been affected by this leak.
The leak was first discovered when a posted on the Twoplustwo.com forums posted a link to the location of the files, a link that was removed just a few minutes after it was originally posted. However, that was enough to get the location out there; according to the Subject: Poker report, the link had been passed around privately by a number of people who saw the link in the few minutes it was available.
The report also stated that the data appeared to be accurate, based on searches for players whose personal data was known. The data was organized by nation, and included about 2 million US accounts, over 300,000 accounts from Canada, and about 137,000 from the UK. The data included the following fields:
- Full name
- Screen name
- E-mail address
- Phone number
- Mailing address
- Account balance
- IP address
- Deposit methods utilized
- Birth date
- A unique UB account number
- VIP status
- Affiliate status
- Blacklist status
For the vast majority of players, there was no password information of any kind included. However, Subject: Poker did report that one file featuring Italian players’ information did have a password field, though it seemed unlikely that the data actually consisted of password information.
In a small bit of good news, it appears as though players from Absolute Poker were not affected by the data leak, though a handful of AP accounts have been claimed to be found in the data files by at least one player. In addition, the files were taken down from the website that hosted the data, apparently thanks to a request from Subject: Poker itself. It is unclear who leaked the data, or for what purpose this was done.
