Poker Programs Move to Sunday Nights on GSN
GSN recently announced that the cable networks poker programming will no longer be aired on Monday. The programs will now be aired on Sunday night. The network will air their poker show “High Stakes Poker”.
Kevin Belinkoff, the Vice President of Programming for GSN, stated in a press release that the company thinks “poker on Sunday night is a great way for viewers to end their weekend and begin their week. With High Stakes Poker and World Poker Tour, we’re proud to have the best poker in the world and we’re looking forward to establishing Sunday night on GSN as the home of poker on television.”
GSN owns the rights to carry Season VI of the World Poker Tour which is airing Sunday nights on Fox Sports Net. GSN decided to not pick up season seven of the WPT earlier this so the WPT had to find a replacement channel. The WPT was picked up by Fox Sports Net and now with GSN airing their show on the same night, both will be battling it out for viewers.
GSN’s High Stakes Poker show was one of the first shows to air a cash game instead of a No Limit Hold’em game. The show films at various casinos in Las Vegas and features several big name pros that are well worth watching. A.J. Benza and Mr. Kotter himself, Gabe Kaplan, host the show.
