PokerStars Asia Pacific Poker Tour Grand Final
Sydney's Star City Hotel and Casino was the spot for the Pokerstars Asia Pacific Poker Tour Grand Final and Day 1c presented a lot of big names and action. Joe Hachem, Australia's local celebrity, as well as worldwide celebrities were on hand to try their luck with the cards. Hachem helped start the day at the opening ceremony.
One of Australia's own was eliminated early. Billy "the croc" Argyros went all in with pocket 10s and was called by Portaro who had A-K. Portaro got a K so Argyros said goodbye. Portaro then eliminated another player when he had pocket Aces while Tahtouh had A-J. Tahtouh received no help from the board so he was out as well.
Hachem held his own during day 1C play and managed to build his stack early and hold on to make it to day 2. Guy Mosel had a good day as well and managed grow his chips later in the day but Carter Gill won a large pot and moved to the top of the pack. Gill gained the lead by calling John Kim who placed a large bet with 7-8, Gill had A-10 and received a nut flush when the board came 8-7-10-3-5.
