APT Doubles Length of Macau Festival
Authorities in Macau recently gave the Asian Poker Tour permission to extend the length of the Macau Festival of Poker. This year’s event will double in length, changing from six days of poker to twelve. The festival will begin on August 12th and run through the 23rd at the Galaxy StarWorld Hotel and Casino with a Main Event lasting three days.
The final table of the Main Event is scheduled for August 23rd and it will be televised. The buy-in for the Main Event is $4,300 but many players will be able to qualify through satellites held by the biggest names in poker. Titan Poker, Full Tilt, PartyPoker, 888 and many others will hold satellites before the August event takes place.
Chris Parker the chief executive officer for the APT commented: “The Asian Poker Tour Macau Festival will feature a side event schedule never seen in Asia before including several new formats that will stir the curiosity of poker enthusiasts at all levels. We believe Asia’s first festival of poker will establish Macau as an essential stop on the international poker circuit.”
