As New Years Eve approaches many are trying to figure out where they will be spending their countdown to 2009. A good choice would be the Bellagio poker room in Las Vegas, Nevada. The casino is going to be hosting poker tournaments on both New Years Eve and New Years Day.

Each day will see a $540 buy-in poker tournament with the normal daily tournament structure of forty minute blinds. The real difference will be the starting chips, which will be raised to 15,000, well over the usual 6,000.

This is the first year the Bellagio will be hosting New Years Eve poker tournaments so they are not sure about how big the turn out will be. They do know that players are excited about the raise in chips. Rob Moore the poker tournaments supervisor for the Bellagio has commented that many regulars are excited and they expect around 100 players for the New Years Day tournament.

The tournaments will be a new way to bring in the New Year but what a way to go especially if you win a good size cash out!
