Calgary Flames Hockey Club Charity Poker Event a Success
The Calgary Flames Hockey Club and the Calgary Flames Ambassadors recently held their 5th annual charity poker tournament for the Flames Foundation for life. The tournament was a great success and raised hundreds of thousands for the charity.
The tournament offered a first place prize of $5,000 and four tickets to anywhere that West Jet flies. The winner also earned Flames playoff tickets, two Top Shelf Experience tickets and a $7,500 ring. 350 players entered the tournament and it was Ken Carter who won the event.
Over the past five years the tournament has raised over $1.4 million. The Flames Foundation for Life benefits from the tournament and they use the money they are given for education, medical research and amateur sports and recreation. This edition of the tournament raised $300,000 for the Foundation.
