Daniel Negreanu Wins B.C. Poker Championships
The fourth annual B.C. Poker Championships ended this past weekend at the River Rock Casino Resort in Richmond with six hundred and ninety players competing for the $370,000 plus first place prize. Poker Pro Daniel Negreanu was able to outlast the competition and take home the winner’s title.
Daniel took on the four day No Limit Texas Hold’em event and added the 2008 B.C. Poker Championships title to his already long list of achievements. Daniel has won four World Series of Poker Bracelets and two World Poker Tour titles.
Daniel said his latest win was special because he is Canadian and praised the staff and the casino. Daniel stated: "It may have been a smaller tournament, but I would say this has been the best $2,500 buy-in event structure I've ever played.”
Other poker pros were on hand to try their luck but were unable to beat Daniel. Those included are: Liz Lieu, Tiffany Michelle, Isabelle Mercier, Maria Ho, Lacey Jones, Brad Booth, Gavin Smith, Mark Napier, Gabe Kaplan, Dennis Phillips and Steve Paul Ambrose.
The event did very well as 2,500 tickets were sold and $2.9 million in winnings were raised. Three of the poker events were sold out.
