Danny Chevalier Wins 2009 NZPT Queenstown Alpine Adventure
The 2009 NZPT Queenstown SKYCITY Alpine Adventure tournament has ended and Danny Chevalier of Australia was able to outlast the field of 134 players to win the first place prize. Danny earned $87,435 NZ for his efforts.
The starting field was made up of over forty players from New Zealand and the final table had six New Zealand players. When it came down to heads up play it was between Danny and Andrew Hinrichsen of Australia. Danny was able to beat Andrew in the final hand when he got a nut flush.
Danny credits his grandmother for his love of poker. He commented that he plays high stake cash games mostly and the tournament win was like “icing on the cake”. Danny used to live in Queenstown running day spas and felt very good coming back to compete in the tournament. He commented: “Queenstown is my second home and it was like playing in front of my home crowd.”
