EPT Polish Open is Over

The European Poker Tour Polish Open is over and now has a winner.  This wasn't an easy one to win, the players at the final table were in no hurry to go home and play went on for 10 hours. Michael Schulze got a check of PLN 2,154,000 or approximately €609,782 for his first place finish.

Michael Schulze had started out the day as chip leader and wasn't going to lose them, he played heads up against Portugal's Ricardo Sousa and Schulze came out the winner. 

The two played for a while folding and stealing hands so that the final hand of the tournament came as a surprise.  The two were playing with their poker faces but then they both took another look at their cards and the hand was on.

Ricardo raised 150,000 from the small blind then Michael looked at his cards and pushed 500,000 in the pot.  This prompted Sousa to go all in and Schulze called with A6.  

Sousa then flipped his pocket 7's, but they only lasted through the flop because the turn revealed an Ace but Ricardo Sousa still got PLN 1,200,600 or €345,543 for his second place finish.

Schulze didn't expect to win this tournament as he rebooked his flight home every day because he expected to be eliminated.  The tour is going to continue on to San Remo in April and then on to the European Poker Tour Grand Final later this year in Monte Carlo and as the winner of this tournament Schulze will be there.
