Event #13 Results: WSOP Circuit Tunica Mississippi
The World Series of Poker Circuit has made its stop in Tunica, Mississippi at the Grand Casino. The tournament is making its way toward the Championship Event and has seen many players win a title. One title was won at Event #13. This event was a $500 No-Limit Hold'em tournament. It took place on Sunday and 461 players showed up to try their luck.
There were no big name players at this events final table. The biggest name to get close to the final table was Young Phan, who went out in 10th place. The final table was made up of players who had made it to WPT and WSOPC events and had moderate success. Charles Williams was at the final table, he had finished in the runner up position at event #10. Kirby Brewer, Chris Blaich, Allan Monterroza, Bruce MacGregor, Fabian Bourdon,Lynn Achey, James Davis and David Gutfreud all made it to final table as well.
Monterroza came in to the final table with the shortest stack but managed to hold on for a while after taking on the chip leader Charles Williams. Williams lost his lead to MacGregor while Monterroza continued to gain chips. Monterroza would gain the chip lead but would soon be overtaken by Achey. Achey would then take out Brewer leaving himself and Monterroza in heads-up play.
It only took two hands for the winner to be named. Achey raised with 9s and Monterroza moved all in with A-2. The flop came Q-10-9 giving Achey the lead and Monterroza did not get any help from the river so it was over. Achey would win $64,411 for first place.
