Event Number 1 of Aussie Millions Day 1a Completed
Three hundred and forty two players registered to compete in the first event of the 2009 Aussie Millions Poker Championship. The first event is a $1,100 No Limit Hold’em tournament and day 1a is now complete.
Many high profile players wanted in on the action and those who were competing had come to play. The tournament was going at such a fast pace that officials had to call the event early so that Day 1b would not be outpaced. At the end of the day only fifty four players were left to return on Day 1b.
A few of the big name players were knocked out early in the competition. Annette Obrestad was knocked out early by David Saab. Saab called against her with pocket eights. Annette held A-8 and drew dead so she was knocked out early in the competition.
The player with the most success of the day was David Griffiths. He took an early chip lead and finished well with 95,000 in chips. Griffiths had knocked out Antonio Fazzolari and Tony Paino early to gain his good size chip stack.
Day 1b will kick off Saturday January 10th at 12:30 PM where players will continue to work their way to the top of the chip counts and hopefully walk away with the top prize.
