It was announced recently by Gala Casinos that they will not be holding the British Poker Tour this year and instead they will be focusing on the Casinos online tournaments. The Gala Casinos British Poker Tour was considered one of the finest poker tours in Britain and always saw great turnouts whether it is poker pros or amateurs.

The GCBPT’s Tour Manager, Mark O’Donnell commented on the decision: “While we’ve have had two fantastic years running the ‘Great British Poker Tours’, we’ve now decided to look at a number of new events and promotions for 2009 that will not only excite our players but are of great value and are accessible to poker players of all levels.”

Gala Casino also stated that they would be increasing the number of satellites for the European Poker Tour, the World Series of Poker and the Aussie Millions. Gala did not give a reason for their decision but many speculate that the decision was made due to fear of the UK economy.
