Great British Poker Tour with entrance into EPT
The Gala Casino in Leeds, England, is hosting the next stop on the Great British Poker Tour and Jo Beevers and Barny Boatman of The Hendon Mob secured their places ahead of the sell out. Jon Kalmar, who placed 5th in the World Series of Poker Main Event, is one more person sure to bring in the audience. The champion will get a 21,000-pound (42,811 US Dollars) cash prize as well as a seat at the final in November.
Games that are still open in the European Poker Touring include £50 (101 US Dollars), £100 (202 US Dollars) and £200 (404 US Dollars) tournaments will be played on the 15th, 16th and 17th of August. The main event will occur and be concluded the weekend of the 18th.
Online Poker room giant PartyPoker.com is sponsoring Scandinavia's first televised high-stakes cash event, and have two semi-final packages valued at more than $11,000. The $50,000 buy-in to ‘The Game' is appropriate High Stakes, but there is a $20,000 runner up tournament. ‘The Game' itself does not have the characteristic tournament freeze out structure, but will continue as long as there is money in the prize pool. The bad news is that even though the final is going to be filmed in London between 13th and 17th August, the qualifying seats are only available to Scandinavians.
There is hope for those who are not Scandinavian, and it comes from PKR.com. They are running European Poker Tour satellites with prize packages valued over $52,000 of Barcelona and London European Poker Tour packages. The online qualifiers Grand Final for Barcelona will be held at 20.00 GMT on August 10th, with a direct buy-in of $250 + $20. Satellites start from $1.28 and $0.10. The London European Poker Tour packages tournament will be on August 13th, with a similar set up.
