Grosvenor Grand Prix Begins In Late October
The Grosvenor Grand Prix is set to take place on October 30th and continue until November 2nd 2008. The Limit Hold’em event will be held at the Grosvenor casino in Walsall.
The Grosvenor Grand Prix is one of Europe’s most popular tournaments. This event is unique in the fact that all players must qualify to gain entry, buy-ins are not accepted. This will be the sixth year the event has taken place and it has now been added to the Grosvenor U.K. Poker Tour.
The sponsor of the tour, Blue Square Poker will be adding an additional £25,000 to this year’s prize pool. The winner will also receive a free seat to the £3,000 Grosvenor U.K. Poker Tour Grand Final and also to the £75,000 Champion of Champions tourney.
Qualifiers for the tournament will take place at the Walsall casino. Super satellite qualifiers are 50 Pot-Limit Hold’em rebuy tournaments, where one of eight players will qualify for the final stages in the tournament. Online satellites will take place on certain Thursdays on the Blue Square poker website beginning September 11th until October 23rd.
The Grand Prix will not have a registration fee but will take a 5% cut from the prize pool. Players who win support events during the Grand Prix festival will also win seats to the Champion of Champions tournament. These events must have a buy-in of £100 or more.
Players can find more information about the tournament at the Grosvenor Grand Prix website. Players will also have the chance to participate in three last chance satellites at the Walsall casino the week of the Grand Prix. Last year’s event had 1,267 players enter and Marcus Bebb-Jones outlasted everyone to become the winner and take home £90,000.
