Irish Poker Open Begins Today
Poker players are gathering in Dublin, Ireland today to begin competing in the Irish Poker Open. The City West Hotel is hosting the event as it begins at 2pm. It has been estimated that six hundred players will be competing in the event and should create a large prize pool of 2 million Euros.
A Super Satellite took place last night to kick off the tournament series. The satellite had a buy-in of 200 plus 20 Euros and players were competing for seats to the main event. Sixty seven players earned tickets worth 3,500 for tournament play.
Poker fans will also be able to view the competition online beginning today at the Irish Open homepage. Fans will also be able to interact with the commentators of the Irish Open through Twitter access. The internet has given poker players and fans many different ways to enjoy live tournaments as well as online tournaments.
Several big name players will be competing today and those include: Jamie Gold, Neil Channing, Marty Smyth, Phil Laak, Brian Townsend, Ciaran O’Leary and Dan Harrington.
