Joe Cada Wins 2009 WSOP Main Event
Just a few days ago twenty one year old Joe Cada became the youngest player to ever win the WSOP Main Event. Cada won the Main Event after defeating Darvin Moon in heads up play this past Tuesday morning.
The event took place at the Penn and Teller Theater at the Rio All-Suite Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas. Cada took home $8.55 million in prize money for earning the first place win as well as a gold championship bracelet.
For finishing in second place, Moon earned $5.18 million. Heads up play began with Cada in the chip lead nearly 2 to 1. Moon fought back hard and took an advantage after only a few hands. Both men would then trade the lead for several hands over almost three hours of play with only one small break.
Cada eventually gained the chip lead for the final time and on the final hand his pair of nines would beat Moon’s suited Queen/Jack. Cada commented: “I ran really well and I never really thought this was possible. It was one of those dreams and I’m thankful it came true.”
