Joe Hachem Wins One For Charity
In the final hand of the tournament Hachem held an 8 to 1 chip lead over Greg 'fossilman' Raymer. Raymer picked his spot and shoved in with QJ suited spades, only find himself up against AK, off suit. The flop... ALL EIGHTS! So far Hachem's Ace was in play, Raymer still had two cards to come, until the turn ended his shot at victory. The turn, a King of Diamonds gave Hachem the nuts, a Full house. Before the 10 of hearts fell on the river, Raymer was already drawing dead.
The win was fitting, as Hachem, the 2005 World Series of Poker won his first ever major poker tournament, his native home, AUSSIE AUSSIE AUSSIE. Hachem will himself deliver the check for $50,000.00 to the Shane Warne Foundation.
Hachem had this to say about the charity "The Shane Warne Foundation distributes funds raised to established charities that provide essential help and services to seriously ill and underprivileged children. It's a great cause and the foundation helps a lot of people. From a personal standpoint, it fills a gap that I've been looking for to give something back".
