John Tabatabai Wins Aussie Millions Event #10
Event #10 of the Aussie Millions was a Heads-Up Poker Championship was thirty two players competed for the first place title. The buy in for the event was $5,300 AUD and only eight players would be paid. John Tabatabai of Betfair Poker would outlast the field and take the first place finish at the event.
The top eight players in the tournament cashed out and the top four made it to Day 2. Stefan Jedlicka, Graeme Putt, Michael Pesek and Jason Gray finished 8th to 4th and were paid $20,000 AUD each for their efforts.
When Day 2 play began on Wednesday David Gent, Jarred Solomon, Alec Torelli and Tabatabai were competing for the top prize. Torelli played against Solomon and won the best of three series while Tabatabai beat Gent in their series. Both players eliminated won $40,000 AUD.
Next Torelli and Tabatabai would begin heads up play. The first match had to be done over due to a color up mistake and soon Tabatabai had Torelli down to his last few thousand chips. Tabatabai won that match and the second round began.
Tabatabai was up early in round two and Torelli was soon down again. On the final hand Torelli held K-10 and would go all in. Tabatabai called with A-7 and the flop fell 9-7-7 and it was all over for Torelli. Tabatabai won $100,000 AUD for first place and Torelli took home $60,000 AUD for his second place finish.
