Karl Hevroy Wins LAPT Punta del Este
The Punta de Este, Uruguay stop on the Latin America Poker Tour ended this past weekend and twenty year old Karl Hevroy outlasted the three hundred and twenty six players to win the grand prize of just over $280,000. For the first time, an LAPT event had a prize pool of one million dollars so it was an exciting time for all involved.
Players paid the $3,500 buy in to compete and players from Europe, Latin America and the United States were hoping to become the latest LAPT winner. The event took place at the Mantra Resort Spa Casino in Punta del Este and when final table play began Karl Hevroy held the chip lead and he never looked back.
Hevroy eliminated several players at the final table before he came to heads up play against Alejandro De Arruabarrena. Hevroy was still in the chip lead when heads up play began. Final table would not last long as Arruabarrena would go all in on the first hand and give the title to Hevroy.
Hevroy got Arruabarrena to go all in when the board read 9-9-8-4. Hevroy had 9-8 and Arruabarrena held Q-J. On the river was a four but it did not matter as Hevroy had already won the hand and the title.
